Completed consultancies

Building capacity to ensure children’s participation: Child Rights Core Team, Sri Lanka

Dhruva was contracted by Child Rights Core Team of Sri Lanka, which is a network of organisations such as Save the Children, FORUT, PLAN and WorldVision, to help them plan consultations to formulate a children’s alternate report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. Dhruva also conducted a capacity building programme for the members of the Core Team as NGO representatives from different districts of Sri Lanka to equip them to carry out the consultations.

Facilitating structures for children’s participation: Government of Mongolia

Dhruva was contracted was hired by UNICEF as a consultant to the Government of Mongolia, in cooperation with Save the Children-UK and World Vision Mongolia, to develop a Strategic Plan for the National Agency for Children involving the participation of children and young people throughout the country. The strategy was adopted by the Government in September 2004, and Dhruva head Nandana Reddy was presented with a Lifetime Achievement award.

Facilitating children’s research worldwide: University of Durham/DFID

As part of a study commissioned by the UK Department for International Development and the University of Durham, Dhruva designed the methodology for a study by children from India, Ghana and South Africa on their transport, access and mobility problems. Dhruva also developed the capacities of adults and children from all three countries to carry out the research through a series of workshops. Read more about the study.

Sensitivity training and policy consultation on children’s work and child labour: IKEA

Dhruva was engaged by the multinational retailer IKEA to conduct a series of sensitisation workshops for senior management and country managers on issues and perspectives related to children’s work and labour. We were subsequently contracted to assist IKEA in developing their global policy on Child Labour.
