Nobel Committee’s recognition of children’s rights

Posted on October 11, 2014

The Concerned for Working Children (CWC) heartily welcomes the Nobel Committees decision to highlight children’s rights this year, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This is a true recognition for the children of the world and their struggles amidst great adversities and the effort of all those who have joined hands with them. We sincerely hope this will motivate all countries to renew their commitment to the fulfillment of the realisation of children’s rights, upholding children’s right to self determination and the best interests of children in every aspect of governance and development. May children’s rights to protection, provision and participation be realised in the true spirit of the Convention where children are part of determining the nature and content of their actions, where vulnerable children are not further criminalised or marginalised and where there is no scope to manufacture consent.
